Very, very grateful for our inclusion in last night’s Americana Music Association awards ceremony at the Ryman Auditorium. Even more than last year, it was hard to leave our seats to take the stage ourselves as the performances by our friends and heroes were ceaseless and unerring. On display was music made for its own sake by thoughtful adults, meant to be appreciated by thoughtful listeners of any age, performed with dignity, vitality, and skill. Toward the end, we were announced winners of the award for Duo/Group of the Year (presented by Joe Henry and Emmylou Harris!) which, knowing the pool of voters that cast ballots for this night, is more flattering than any other honor known to us as folk musicians. Will not be coming down from this for a while.
