Phantom Planet’s Fueled By Ramen debut is “Raise The Dead”. Produced by Tony Berg (Aimee Mann, Peter Gabriel) and written by vocalist Alex Greenwald, ‘Raise The Dead’ mixes the band’s classic sixties influence with a refreshingly modern slant. The opening title track sees Greenwald channelling Jeff Buckley over a bed of jangly guitars and handclaps, while “Do The Panic”, the first single, features an iconic guitar riff, doo-woop vocals and a vibe that evokes David Bowie circa Ziggy Stardust. Acoustically driven tracks like “Confess” and the orchestrally tinged ballad “I Don’t Mind” showcase the diversity of sound that ‘Raise The Dead’ delivers. Best known as the sound of the O.C. with the theme song ‘California’, their fourth full-length album ‘Raise The Dead’ reaffirms why Phantom Planet are one of today’s most exciting rock n’ roll bands. |
