In 1997, Daniel Sanders, Brad Campbell, Zoran Trivic and Rob Nassif came together in Perth, Western Australia to form Gyroscope. Recorded with the help of old friend Shaun O’Callaghan at Couch Studios, the LP has that important combination of light and shade that characterises Gyroscope and indeed makes their live performance so movingly dynamic. Garnering praise from critics and punters alike, Sound Shattering Sound features live hits ‘Doctor, Doctor’, ‘Safe Forever’ and ‘Take this for Granted’ and continues the band‘s song writing tradition - heartfelt as well as hard rock. Gyroscope topped the '2003 Bombshellzine.com Readers Poll', taking out the Most Popular EP of 2003 (first and second spots with the years two releases), Best Australian Live Band 2003 and Best Australian Breakthrough Act of 2003 categories. "a band that persists in continually redefining the word brilliant" - Xpress 2003 "Gyroscope, have got to be one of the best bands this country has produced in a while. A massive wall of sound, brilliantly written tunes, coupled with an At The Drive In-esque explosiveness on stage made for a veritable feast of power and energy as Gyroscope proved once again that they deserve every accolade being heaped upon them." - Beat 2004 "The way this band ignites a stage with caustic command is an image of pure, brutal emotion" - Xpress 2003 "Gyroscope managed to blow the crowd away with an energy infused performance" - Inpress 2003 "The song writing is catchy and confident without being slick, and the band's performances are uniformly breathtaking. Great things on the horizon" - Rave 2003 "Their riffs are scathing from the outset, their vocals suitably impassioned and their intensity hard to miss" - Beat 2003 "Just like Jimmy Eat World crossed with At The Drive In on Ritalin" - Tertangala 2003 "Some bands get locked into genres, others just make good music - Gyroscope are on their way to becoming one of the latter" - Kerrang! |
