COLD CHISEL is the most successful band in Australian rock history. Formed in 1973 in Adelaide, by 1979 they were the biggest live draw around Australia. In 1980 they released 'East', the album that consolidated them as Australia's premier recording/concert band.
Their popularity was vividly demonstrated when, on breaking up in 1983, their 'Last Stand' concerts played 26 shows, including five at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
Since then COLD CHISEL have sold over 3 million albums and CD's. The 'Chisel' best of compile is now the highest-selling Australian compilation recording with sales exceeding one million.
More than any record company statistics can tell, though, Cold Chisel's songs and recordings mapped Australian culture, landscape, morals, humour, sex, love and doubt from ground level, in ways that continue to resonate in the 21st century.
The new double live 'RINGSIDE' album was recorded at the Sydney Hordern Pavilion shows. Featuring 32 tracks including 5 unreleased songs and 12 tracks never to have appeared on any Cold Chisel live album before.
'RINGSIDE' was recorded by Steve James and mixed by Rick Will (Incubus, No Doubt, Ben Harper).
