GABRIELLA CILMI NOMINATED FOR Q AWARD IN UK

Gabriella Cilmi has broken yet another record on her rise to the musical top, becoming the youngest artist to be nominated for the UK’s Q Award.

Cilmi is up for the breakthrough artist 2008 award and will find out if she will become the youngest winner on October 6.

“On an album positively reeling with preternatural confidence and youthful enthusiasm, she can certainly inhabit a song at full throaty throttle, and everything here pushes pop’s smartest buttons,” Q magazine wrote.

Cilmi’s debut album, Lessons to Be Learned, has been on sale in the UK for over five months and is still in the Top 20 charts (currently sitting at 13).

In Australia, Lessons to Be Learned has achieved platinum sales and first single Sweet About Me has been one of the biggest hits of the year and by achieving the number one single spot Cilmi became the youngest solo artist ever to top the Motorola ARIA chart.

Cilmi will return home for the Australia’s musical night of nights, the ARIA Awards, on Sunday 19 October (for which nominations will be announced next Wednesday 10 September) before getting ready for her assault on the US market early next year.

Cilmi recently signed with Universal Republic in the US
