PANIC AT THE DISCO REVEAL NEW ALBUM “PRETTY. ODD.”
Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording group Panic At The Disco has disclosed early details of its much-anticipated new album, entitled “PRETTY. ODD.” The album – which follows the band’s ARIA platinum-certified 2005 debut, “A FEVER YOU CAN’T SWEAT OUT” – will arrive in stores and online on March 29th.
“PRETTY. ODD.” was recorded in Las Vegas’ Studio at the Palms, with additional production and mixing now underway at the world-renowned Abbey Road Studios in London. Produced by Grammy and Emmy Award-nominated arranger/composer Rob Mathes, the album sees Panic At The Disco embracing a melodic, classic rock-inspired aesthetic while still maintaining the visionary pop modernism that made its debut among the new millennium’s most popular and successful releases.
“It’s definitely different for us,” guitarist/lyricist Ryan Ross explained in the January issue of Alternative Press, “We’ve grown up a lot in these past few years and the different types of music we’ve been into will show through. We want to focus on the melody and what’s happening in the song rather than throwing a lot of distortion over everything.”
The album will be heralded by the first single, “Nine In The Afternoon,” which is slated to impact at radio outlets nationwide on Monday, February 4th. In addition, a companion video clip – directed by Shane Drake, who also helmed the band’s 2006 MTV Video Music Award-winning Video of the Year, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” – will have its world premiere shortly.
Panic At The Disco has quickly established itself as one of today’s most popular and innovative young rock outfits. The Las Vegas-based band had only barely graduated high school before the September 2005 release of their debut album, “A FEVER YOU CAN’T SWEAT OUT.” The collection was an instant internet sensation, scoring big on such highly-trafficked sites as PureVolume and MySpace (where the band now has logged a remarkable 63 million streams).
It wasn’t long before Panic At The Disco’s clever blend of buoyant punk and electronic dance-pop burst out of the online community and into the mainstream. “A FEVER YOU CAN’T SWEAT OUT” reached #11 on the ARIA albums chart and spawned the singles “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” and “But It’s Better If You Do” which were both Top 20 chart and airplay hits.
Panic At The Disco also proved as adept on stage as they are in the studio, with an innovative and creative live show that earned rapturous responses from audiences and critics around the world. The band was on the road nearly non-stop from the release of “A FEVER YOU CAN’T SWEAT OUT” including a sold out tour of Australia in October 2006.
