Gabriella Cilmi was just 13 when she was plucked from obscurity and offered her first record deal. The precocious teenager's massive voice has been turning heads ever since – and with the release of her debut album, Lessons To Be Learned, in 2008, the buzz surrounding her has reached fever pitch.
Cilmi swept the 2008 ARIAs, winning six awards including the coveted "Best Female Artist" and "Single Of The Year" gongs. Her hugely successful track "Sweet About Me" was the highest selling Australian single of 2008 and also caught fire overseas, establishing Cilmi in Europe and the US even before the release of her debut album.
With an ever-growing Australian fanbase and the rest of the world catching on fast, 2009 is set to be a huge year for Gabriella Cilmi. Planning has already begun for the follow-up to Lessons To Be Learned, and in the meantime, Cilmi will continue to stun and delight with a series of high-profile live performances.
